From 20 to 26 March 2024, we took part in WriteHere, Right Now! Crafting E+ Project Proposals, an Erasmus+ training course in Šibenik, Croatia.
The training focused on writing Erasmus+ project and accreditation proposals. It was designed for people already working with young people and brought together participants from different European organisations.
What was WriteHere, Right Now! about?
WriteHere, Right Now! focused on how Erasmus+ ideas are developed into project and accreditation proposals.
Participants worked on project development and exchanged examples of how their organisations use Erasmus+.
The programme also looked at youth mobility and non-formal education. Participants discussed how international opportunities can be used when working with young people.
The training was intended for youth workers aged 18 or older who already had experience working with young people.
Who took part in the training?
The infopack lists Croatia, North Macedonia, Spain and Greece as the participating countries.
Youth for Change represented North Macedonia.
Each partner was expected to send five participants aged 18 or older with experience in youth work.
The project was hosted by Udruga mladih "Mladi u EU" in Šibenik.
The partner list also names Youth for Change, Kocaeli Provincial Directorate of National Education, Asociación Juvenil Illipula and S.I.S.E.R.A. Greece.
What did participants learn about Erasmus+ project writing?
Writing Erasmus+ proposals was at the centre of the training.
Participants looked at how projects are developed and implemented. They exchanged practices from their organisations and worked with tools and methods for developing new ideas.
A specific part of the training was dedicated to project and accreditation proposals.
This meant looking beyond individual mobility activities and learning more about how organisations can prepare structured proposals within Erasmus+.
The programme connected this work with youth mobility. Participants discussed how projects can involve young people in international activities and non-formal education.
What did participants actually work on?
Sessions took place at the premises of Mladi u EU and in the field.
The programme included collaborative work where participants identified needs and developed ideas around them.
According to the project materials, participants also worked on an Action Plan for their communities.
Towards the end of the training, participants had the opportunity to start developing the basis for their own project or activity draft.
This moved the work from discussing Erasmus+ to putting project ideas on paper.
Participants could then take those drafts back to their organisations and continue working on them after the training.
What did participants prepare before travelling?
Each national team prepared a presentation about its sending organisation.
Teams also prepared examples of good practices connected to Erasmus+ actions in their countries.
These presentations gave participants concrete examples to discuss during the training.
An intercultural night was also part of the programme. Participants shared food, flags, language, music and other parts of their cultures with the international group.
At the end of the training, participants received a Youthpass certificate.
Where did participants stay in Šibenik?
Participants stayed at Hostel Scala in Šibenik.
What did it cost to take part?
Participants were reimbursed for their travel costs according to the Erasmus+ Distance Calculator. The project followed the Erasmus+ guidelines for the mobility.
Why was project writing relevant for YFCH?
Erasmus+ project writing is directly connected to the international activities Youth for Change works on.
During WriteHere, Right Now!, our participants could focus specifically on how ideas are turned into Erasmus+ proposals.
The accreditation element was also important because the training materials specifically included both project proposals and accreditation proposals.
Working alongside other youth organisations gave participants examples of how Erasmus+ was being used in different organisations.
For YFCH, these topics could then be connected with our own work with young people in North Macedonia.
